Next250 is rooted in interdependence and collective vision.
As we witness the ongoing erosion of voting rights, attacks on civil liberties, the targeting of immigrants and marginalized communities, and growing efforts to divide and silence our people, we know this moment requires all of us to come together with courage, clarity, and collective action.
Rather than organizing solely around opposition, this mobilization is centered on what we are building together, a future grounded in democracy, belonging, justice, dignity, and shared humanity.
The gathering brings together organizing, culture, healing, storytelling, spirituality, and public action into one collective national moment.
-
Interdependence means recognizing that our lives, communities, and futures are connected.
It means understanding that none of us are free, safe, or thriving alone and that the wellbeing of our communities, democracy, environment, and future generations depends on how we care for one another now.
Interdependence calls us to move beyond division and toward collective responsibility, belonging, and shared humanity.

As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary in 2026, we are at a defining moment in our nation’s history. Communities across the country are experiencing growing attacks on democracy, human rights, bodily autonomy, workers, immigrants, public education, and our collective future.
Next250 is an opportunity to reflect honestly on our history while also declaring the future we want to build together. The first 250 years were shaped by systems built by people, and those systems can be reshaped by people.
-
Next250 is powered by a growing coalition of more than 40 national and local partner organizations (and growing), movement leaders, artists, youth organizers, labor leaders, faith communities, educators, and advocates working across issues and regions.
Partners and participants include organizations and leaders working in labor and economic justice, climate justice, democracy and voting rights, reproductive rights, gun violence prevention, immigrant rights, youth leadership, and cultural organizing and storytelling.
To date, Next250 has engaged over 3,000 people through 80 engagements (i.e., listening sessions, community gatherings and town halls) across 37 states, Puerto Rico, El Salvador (returnee communities), and 25 Indigenous tribes, helping shape the Declaration of Interdependence and our collective vision for the next 250 years.
-
The initial core pillars of Next250 include:
Living Wage for All
Climate Justice for All
Reproductive Rights & Justice for All
Voting Rights for All
Gun Safety & Peace for All
*** Please note that these issues are a starting point for Next250 highlighting areas that the majority of Americans already agree on. At the national gathering, more issues will be highlighted through our activations, art and speaking program.
Rather than treating these issues as separate, Next250 recognizes that our futures are interconnected and that building the next 250 years requires collective care, shared responsibility, and interdependence.
